![]() Earlier this year I had the incredible privilege of leading a group of travelers on a trip from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso (Santiago). The trip included six nights in Antarctica. I've likely been on over 100 cruises in my career as a travel agent...and I really think that I can rank this trip as #1. Even though I have traveled to Antarctica before, on my previous journey we were not allowed to get off the ship. On this one we made six landings or Zodiac tours. It made all the difference in the world. I plan to make several entries to this Blog about the trip, primarily about the Antarctica portion of the journey. This entry will serve as an introduction and overview of the trip itself. During the several days it took for us to get from Buenos Aires to our first sighting of Antarctica, the ship did an excellent job of building the excitement. This photo shows just some of the items we were given on various days to prepare us for the trip. Our complimentary cold-weather parka...our (rented) boots...books about the birds and sea life we'd see. One day we even got a cookie in the shape of a penguin placed near our pillow. Not only were the landings themselves spectacular, the captain and the expedition team did all they could to make sure our trip was as good as it could be! Prior to the trip I didn't know one penguin from another...now I can recognize the various species....like the Gentoo penguin family shown below. While I took over 5,000 photos on this trip, I've posted only the best of the best in the Photo Album section of this web site. The various parts of the trip have been placed in multiple collections. As of the date I'm writing this blog entry I have not yet posted all of the photos from the trip. However, for those who want to view some of the sites and sea life we saw on this cruise should Click Here to go to the home page for these South America and Antarctica photos. We've generated quite an interest in this trip from the photos. We can help you plan your Seabourn adventure. Just let us know that you'd like more information. We may even lead another group in early 2017.
